The WoodShed would like to invite everyone; students, individual artists, teachers, and organizers to join us for "Rooted in Blackness," our first online winter intensive. This winter intensive is a deep reflection on Black dance as a “movement” practice - in motion toward individual and collective liberation. During this four day program, we will explore the endless possibilities of the moving Black body as a cite/site, a source and activation point for movement, and a cistern for ancestral liberation practices. We will experience a spectrum of decolonial dances, as well as carve space for decoding and unpacking anti-blackness, and racial capitalism within our practices. Our aim is to share resources, skills and practices for survival and resilience within this new normal of reflection, unrest and uncertainty.
